FMWA Announces Introduction of Florida ProMover Certification Program

Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Movers & Warehousemen’s Association along with the American Moving & Storage Association are excited to announce the expansion of the ProMover Certification Program into the state of Florida. The ProMover Certification Program will aid consumers by providing an identifiable measure of quality while, at the same time, enhancing the moving industry by encouraging and recognizing high professional achievement.

"Congratulations to FMWA's Corey Mathews and all the association's members for their leadership to make this happen. Florida is a major move market, and now our colleagues in the Sunshine State have a critical tool at their disposal to differentiate themselves from the rogues,” said Linda Bauer Darr, President & CEO of the American Moving & Storage Association.

The overall goal of the FMWA ProMover Certification Program is to identify quality professional moving companies and promote uniform criteria with the FMWA at the state level and with AMSA at the national level to the benefit of consumers. Qualifications for becoming a Florida ProMover include, registration with the Florida Division of Consumer Services, a satisfactory ("C” rating or better) with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), membership and code of ethics compliance with FMWA, and an investigation to ensure that there are no deceptive, dishonest, or detrimental disqualifying behaviors, including a review of consumer complaints.

"We have fought hard to protect the reputation of Florida’s professional movers from the ill effects brought on by the thieves and extortionists who pose as movers in our state” said Corey Mathews, Executive Director of the Florida Movers & Warehousemen’s Association. Starting with the legislation that we drafted, making it a 3rd degree felony to hold goods hostage, and now with the extension of the Florida ProMover Certification Program, consumers will have more tools than ever before to know who the good guys are.”

The Florida Movers and Warehousemen’s Association is a statewide professional association founded in 1979 and whose mission is "representing Florida’s qualified and experienced movers in their business, consumer and governmental concerns.” The FMWA and its members all agree to abide by the association’s code of ethics and protect Florida’s consumers.
